Shockingly misanthropic public space design here, but easily circumvented, surely? I mean, it's inconvenient for the general public to carry large boards around to place on top of the spikes, but if you spent a lot of time sleeping on benches (as this is presumably meant to deter) it wouldn't be too difficult. Perhaps the market will come up with its own solution, the PortaBoard. To be seen on Dragon's Den soon.

Long overdue UI redesign of the ATM. Many of the improvements are in hindsight obvious. I see the point of the side-on idea - I wonder if that will be comfortable for the more insecure, or insular (ie. British) user who would prefer to avoid eye contact with others in the queue. An idea might be a slightly higher side-panel with some sort of advertising screen, giving a point of focus for those queueing. Or even just a "KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON" poster.

Yes. Yes they do. And I agree with the point about Univers being a better modernist font than Helvetica, but Helvetica has such cultural weight as the signifier of neutral modernism, sometimes it is impossible to ignore.

I know he's only holding and releasing a coin, but dang, that's impressive. I literally cannot even guess how he's doing that.

I want one of these for the kitchen - feature-wise, it is perfect, and normally that's enough for me. But it is so badly designed and aesthetically disastrous I can't bring myself to buy one. Roberts: stop resting on your product-design laurels, and sort it out.
