  • On the occasion of the release of The Arbor today, here are some of my photographs of the Buttershaw Estate that I took while researching for the design of the poster for the film. Poster here: http://www.impawards.com/intl/uk/2010/arbor_xlg.html

  • Ooh, this looks good. Not coming to my city though.
  • Very interesting. Much of the time, especially with a rebrand, it's not the logo that is critical, but the commitment with which the rebrand is undertaken. History is littered with bad choices in design normally caused by the naturally occurring aesthetic conservatism in large corporations (this is another topic entirely) but what normally happens is that marketing talking-heads are wheeled out to justify it (and the new Gap logo would be easy to justify - more approachable, new era, and so forth) and then future commentary simply ignored. Perhaps this is a sign of the new era of community involvement, even in the private sector. Either way, it's shockingly weak from Gap. I don't think their brand would have suffered hugely from the new logo, not in the long run, but I think it will suffer more from their lack of cahones. It's certainly cost them money they could have spent on ads.
